Meet the Animals

Eddie, the Yellow Dog - Eddie was born on the East Coast and came to San Diego about 4 years ago. His favorite pastime is going for long walks and seeing how many people he can get to smile back at him. He really likes the Big Animal events that have dancing. Eddie has some pretty tricky moves on the dance floor.
Pedro the Blue Donkey – For some reason, people tend to confuse Pedro with his distant cousin, Eeyore. He tells people that he’s nothing like Eeyore. He’s always happy and ready to go play with the kids. His favorite song is “Zippity Doo Dah” and he prefers to sing it in the shower.
Lily the Green Gorilla - Lily was born in a hollowed out tree in the jungles of Poway. Her favorite color is green and she loves clothes! She has a new dress and scarf that she is happy to show off. Her favorite things to do are dance, especially with children, get and give hugs and blow kisses. She has two children, BJ and Baby Lily. She likes to take them to events so they can play too!
The Purple Penguin - The Purple Penguin came from Antarctica 17 years ago. He just couldn’t get warm! He finds San Diego’s balmy weather a lot more comfortable. Maybe only black penguins like the cold! His favorite foods are anchovies, salmon and popcorn. Hmm…what a combination!
Elmo - Elmo is enthusiastic, friendly, and cheerful. He has a very positive, optimistic view of himself and life. Like others in his neighborhood, Elmo speaks a "monster language". He is usually seen with his best friend, Zoe. He has a pet goldfish named Dorothy. His favorite hobbies are tap dancing and playing the piano.
Tigger the Tiger - Tigger is his name and bouncing is his game, along with solving mysteries as a Super Sleuth. Tigger is upbeat and fun, but sometimes he jumps to conclusions a little too quickly. It’s good that there are lots of children in San Diego to help him take his time and "think, think, think."
Pooh Bear - Pooh lives in the Hundred Acre Wood. His Friends love him for his happy nature, helpful attitude, and straightforward reactions to the challenges that each day brings. Good company and a pot of honey are all it takes to make Pooh’s day.
Pete the Wabbit - The Wabbit was born, along with 2 sisters and two brothers, in a burrow in the hills. He was the odd one (much taller). Dad thought it might have been the fertilizer he used on the carrots. One day the circus came to town where he met a Gorilla named Bongo. They became the best of friends! Together they met a magician. He had a large purple hat. Believe it or not the magician could pull the Wabbit out of his hat!
Bongo the Gorilla - Bongo was born in the Congo, where he met a traveling magician named Frank, who adopted him and took him to San Diego. Bongo loves to eat bananas. Bongo would like to eat a coconut, but can't figure out how to open one up! Bongo's best friend is Pete the Wabbit, and they like to play hopscotch, and sometimes they go surfing together. Bongo thinks he is a doctor, and he loves to play games with children. Bongo protects kids with his mighty roar! Raaaaaaarrrgh!
Cookie - Cookie is the hungriest animal at Big Animals for Little Kids. Chocolate chip cookies are his favorite kind; oatmeal cookies are his second favorite. However, since 2006 he has said that cookies are "a sometime snack" and that he also likes fruits and eggplant.
Sponge Bob - Sponge Bob lives in a pineapple under the sea with his pet snail, Gary, who meows like a cat. He loves to spend his vacations away from Bikini Bottom with the Big Animals.
Mama Bear – She comes from a family with a long history of dancing bears. She met Papa Bear at a Sadie Hawkin's Dance where he stole her heart. She loves to bake cookies and hug the children, who remind her of Baby Bear before he grew up and went off to college.
Papa Bear – Papa was born in Jellystone Park and left to seek fortune and fame. He fell in love at first sight with Mama Bear and jigged into her life. They've been shuffling together ever since. He loves hugging kids, juggling bowling pins, and swallowing willing goldfish.

You can make a difference by adopting a Big Animal!
